Comedian Chris Rock stated that former President Donald Trump is accurate in his assessment of the news media as "fake," a point Rock believes is significant enough to almost overshadow Trump's other actions.

"I'm not a fan. But it's weird when somebody gets one thing right, and the one thing almost clears them of all their other sins. The news is fake. He got that right," Rock said in an interview with Variety. Rock, known for his candid and often provocative commentary, was discussing his upcoming film, "Misty Green."

Variety noted Rock's "opinionated, incendiary persona" and recalled that he was among the few celebrities to predict Trump's victory in the 2016 election.

Curtis Houck, managing editor of the Media Research Center's NewsBusters, commented on Rock's remarks, telling Fox News Digital that the comedian's sentiment reflects a broader acknowledgment of media shortcomings. "In this day and age, we often find ourselves feeling like we're approaching cats-and-dogs living together on certain issues, and that includes the acknowledgment that the legacy, elitist media have failed to serve the public," Houck said. "The widespread awareness of both media bias and press ineptitude will be one of President Trump’s longest-lasting legacies. Chris Rock certainly seems to be on the president’s wavelength."

This is not the first time Rock has commented on Trump. In 2023, he reportedly cautioned U.S. lawmakers that arresting Trump would likely increase his popularity. "Are you guys really going to arrest Trump?" Rock asked at an event in Washington, D.C., according to reports. "Do you know this is only going to make him more popular. It's like arresting Tupac. He's just gonna sell more records. Are you stupid?" The remarks were made while he was in the capital for an event honoring Adam Sandler, where attendees included prominent political figures.
