MS NOW host Chris Hayes has criticized former President Donald Trump's response to the deaths of two U.S. service members in the Middle East, suggesting Trump appeared "completely unbothered" by the events while attending the FIFA World Cup final. Hayes described the situation as an "unbelievable split screen" on Monday.

"The president of the United States, the first-ever FIFA Peace Prize recipient, yukking it up, partying at the World Cup finals while the war he started with Iran and then restarted faces one of the worst weeks yet and threatens to spiral out of control," Hayes stated.

This commentary followed an announcement by U.S. Central Command that two American service members were killed in an Iranian strike in Jordan on Friday. The incident also resulted in one service member missing and four hospitalized. Additionally, another American service member died in Iraq during a "controlled detonation" of a downed Iranian drone.

Hayes contended that Trump appeared "asleep at the wheel" amidst the escalating conflict, focusing instead on domestic matters. "Trump transparently does not care and can’t even bother to pretend to anymore. That’s the reality," the host said. He suggested that Trump only commented on the soldiers' deaths after being prompted by "a little-watched news outlet."

The MS NOW host noted that Trump and his family appeared to enjoy themselves at the World Cup final, with images showing the former president on stage as Spain accepted the trophy. Hayes also criticized Trump for initiating a war of choice against Iran, which he argued has led to thousands of deaths and grieving families.

"And has left Trump utterly and completely unbothered," Hayes concluded.
