U.S. singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty on Friday to a charge of affray stemming from an altercation at a London nightclub in February 2023. Prosecutors announced they will not pursue more serious assault charges against Brown, 37, and his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, 40.

Both men entered their guilty pleas at London’s Southwark Crown Court, where they confirmed their names. They had previously faced more serious charges, including attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm and assault causing actual bodily harm, which they had denied. A trial for those charges was scheduled for October.

After the guilty pleas to the affray charge, the prosecution stated that the other charges would not proceed. Brown and Akinlolu are scheduled to be sentenced at the same court on October 26.

Prosecutors had alleged that Brown initiated an "unprovoked attack" on Abraham Diaw using a tequila bottle. His arrest occurred in May 2025 when he returned to Britain for the first time since the incident. Brown was initially denied bail, which cast doubt on his worldwide "Breezy Bowl XX" tour, but was later released after providing a security fee of £5 million (approximately $6.66 million).

Following his court appearance, Brown was met by fans chanting his name and signed autographs.
