Chris Anne Affleck, the mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck, died on June 2 of cardiopulmonary arrest at her son Ben Affleck's Los Angeles residence, according to a death certificate obtained by Us Weekly. Contributing factors to her death included pancreatic adenocarcinoma, a diagnosis she had been battling for months.
The death certificate indicated that Affleck was visiting her son's home at the time of her passing, which was reportedly listed as occurring at 10:52 a.m. No autopsy was performed, and her remains were in transit to Earth Funeral in Las Vegas. A representative for Ben Affleck did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Us Weekly was the first to report that Chris Anne Affleck, a former teacher, had died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 83. She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December and was given an estimated six months to live. She was born in New York City in December 1942, graduated from Harvard University, and taught for 35 years before retiring in 2008.
Chris Anne Affleck is survived by her sons Ben and Casey Affleck, as well as five grandchildren. Her final wish was to witness her grandson Atticus graduate from high school, a milestone she attended with family members on May 31, just days before her death.
