Chinese Girl, 6, Shatters Rubik's Cube World Record
Lian Yunzhi becomes the youngest and only female speedcuber to average under 4.5 seconds for the 3x3x3 cube.
A 6-year-old Chinese girl, Lian Yunzhi, has set a new women's world record for solving the Rubik's Cube, achieving an average time of just over four seconds per cube. She first broke the record with an average of 4.52 seconds at a competition in Wuhan and later improved her time to 4.27 seconds in Guangzhou, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
Yunzhi is now the only female speedcuber to achieve an average time below 4.5 seconds for the 3x3x3 cube. The World Cube Association has listed her on its website as the record holder for this category.
At the Wuhan competition, Yunzhi, wearing a red hairband, appeared focused as her fingers moved rapidly. She smiled and clapped after completing one cube in approximately 3.54 seconds.
CCTV reported that Yunzhi began solving Rubik's Cubes at age 4, taking 90 seconds to complete one. Initially lacking confidence, her enthusiasm grew as her times improved and she gained recognition, motivating her to train harder.
Her mother, Lin Yangxi, stated that Yunzhi was an introverted child who has now become more confident. Yunzhi has mastered over 1,300 solving formulas and dedicates about two to three hours daily to training. Her parents have also sought coaching for her in Shanghai.
