China Exile Warns Socialist Surge Could Bolster Beijing's Influence in Washington

Lily Tang Williams, the Republican nominee for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District, expressed concerns that a Democratic majority in Congress could embolden China, a nation she believes seeks to undermine the United States. Williams, who escaped China after the Tiananmen Square massacre, stated in an interview with Fox News Digital that Beijing would exploit "America's weakness" if Democrats were to control the House and Senate in January.

"I fear that the country I love is becoming the country I left," Williams said. "China will be very happy to see Democrats control the House and Senate. The Democrats want open borders, they want to defund police and abolish private property. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is looking at this as good news."

Williams pointed to a recent trip by members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) to China, alleging that more than a dozen high-ranking members traveled to the country to generate favorable coverage of its regime. She believes this exemplifies how the Chinese government can leverage the "vulnerable Democratic Party" for its own messaging.

"They now share a similar ideology," Williams stated, suggesting a shared ideological alignment between elements of the Democratic Party and the CCP.

Furthermore, Williams raised concerns that Democratic immigration policies could potentially facilitate the entry of Chinese intelligence operatives into the U.S., posing risks of espionage along the southern border.

She argued that the DSA's growing influence within the Democratic Party could shape congressional decisions, even if more moderate Democrats hold leadership positions. "The Democrat Party is hijacked by the DSA," Williams contended. "We’re going to have a DSA-run Congress, whether moderate Democrats like it or not."

A recent Gallup poll indicated that 43% of Americans hold a positive view of socialism, the highest figure since 2010. Williams cited this trend and the potential for at least six new DSA-affiliated lawmakers to enter Congress as reasons for her concern regarding the Democratic Party's trajectory.

"Congress will be controlled by people who sympathize with the CCP and its Marxist principles," Williams warned.

Williams criticized her Democratic opponent and other party members for what she characterized as a reluctance to condemn Marxism. She expressed particular concern that lawmakers sympathetic to Marxist ideology might gain access to sensitive or classified information, posing national security risks. "Our country could fall from within, because we don't really have a good policy to protect ourselves and our national security," she said.

Representatives for Rep. Maggie Goodlander, the DSA, and the Democratic Party did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
