Children's YouTuber 'Ms. Rachel' Invests Thousands in Progressive Political Candidates

Rachel Accurso, widely known as 'Ms. Rachel,' has become a significant political donor, contributing more than $22,500 to various Democratic and progressive candidates since 2024. This financial backing coincides with the expansion of her children's media brand, which now includes partnerships with Netflix, Penguin Random House, and toy manufacturers like Spin Master.

Accurso, a former New York City preschool educator, launched her YouTube channel in 2019. Her content, featuring songs and language lessons for young children, garnered over 21 million subscribers. Her educational series, 'Songs for Littles,' has propelled her into a multimillion-dollar entertainment enterprise.

Beyond her popular online presence, Accurso has become an outspoken figure on political matters, including the Israel-Hamas war and immigration policies. Federal records indicate her donations include $3,000 to Vice President Kamala Harris's campaigns and Victory Funds in 2024. In 2025, she donated $5,000 to Cameron Kasky’s New York congressional campaign, who advocated for abolishing ICE and ending military funding to Israel. Accurso also contributed $5,000 to former New York State Assemblymember Yuh-Line Niou, $3,500 to Darializa Avila Chevalier, and $4,500 to former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, all of whom have platforms critical of Israel and ICE.

Further contributions include $3,000 to Abdul El-Sayed’s Michigan Senate campaign in July 2026. El-Sayed has publicly stated that Israel is committing a "genocide" in Gaza.

Accurso has been vocal about her political stances, stating in March, "I am political," and expressing opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She has also drawn attention for her comments on the Israel-Hamas war, including referring to Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza as her "friend" in a video, shortly before Azaiza admitted to withholding footage of Israeli hostages.

Her brand's expansion into television, books, and toys marks a notable shift in children's media, where online influencers are increasingly securing mainstream deals. Analysts suggest that while parents may be aware of Accurso's political views, the separation between her personal statements and her child-focused content is crucial for maintaining brand trust. Industry experts note that companies often choose to distance themselves from controversial figures, remain silent, or actively support them, depending on the circumstances.

Despite the public discourse surrounding her political activities, Accurso's brand partnerships have continued to flourish. Her estimated net worth is reported to be around $50 million, with Forbes ranking her among its top creators with significant annual earnings. Industry observers emphasize that as long as the educational content itself remains apolitical, the brand's appeal to its target audience is likely to endure.
