Authorities in the Philippines confirmed Sunday that child pornography was found at the former home of Thomas Markle, father of Meghan Markle, and that an official described him as a potential "sex offender of the grossest kind."

Philippine police have been analyzing a collection of images discovered at Markle Sr.'s residence in the resort city of Cebu, according to The Guardian. Jonvic Remulla, the Philippine interior minister, stated that a forensic data analysis of the alleged child sexual abuse images is expected to be completed within a week. "All signs point to a possible sex offender of the grossest kind," Remulla told The Guardian. "We want to be sure before we release the findings."

Remulla also confirmed to Agence France-Presse that national police inspected Markle Sr.'s home and found a "trove of child pornography materials as well as a laptop." The discovery was reportedly made by Markle Sr.'s son, Thomas Markle Jr., who then alerted the police.

Markle Sr. has denied the allegations, telling the Daily Mail that the accusations against him are "sick lies."
