Child Dies, Two Critically Injured in Blue Mountains Stabbing Incident
Emergency services responded to reports of stab wounds inside a vehicle in Valley Heights, New South Wales.
A child has died and two others are in critical condition following a stabbing incident in a vehicle in the Blue Mountains, Australia. Emergency services were called to a home in Valley Heights around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday after reports that a woman and three children had sustained stab wounds.
Upon arrival, officers discovered three children, believed to be between six months and four years old, and a woman inside the vehicle. One child was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman also sustained serious injuries, which police indicated may have been self-inflicted.
Bystanders reportedly provided first aid to the injured individuals while emergency services were en route. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the two surviving children and the woman at the scene before transporting them to Westmead Hospital and Westmead Children's Hospital, respectively. All three remain in critical condition. The woman is believed to be in her 40s.
A crime scene has been established, and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the event. At this time, police stated they are not seeking any other individuals in connection with the incident.
