Jennifer Hyatt Tedmori, who starred in the Nickelodeon series "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide," recently shared her experience opening residual checks from the show, revealing sums as low as two cents.
Tedmori, 37, posted a video on social media detailing the process of opening mail that contained residual payments from her time on the popular children's sitcom, which aired two decades ago. She explained that residual checks are a topic of curiosity for many regarding child actors and decided to share her own earnings.
"Some of these could be a penny, some of these could be $5," Tedmori stated before opening the envelopes. After sorting through several checks, she revealed a payment of "all of two cents" for a specific episode. Another check for video projects and school clubs amounted to three cents.
She noted the irony that the cost of mailing the envelopes likely exceeded the payment amount. "The math ain't f---ing mathing," Tedmori commented.
Her total earnings from "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" for the period covered by the checks amounted to $8.63. She also received a check for $1.11 from a 20-year-old appearance on "90210," bringing her total from that show to $30.06. Tedmori joked about whether such small amounts were even worth reporting to the IRS.
Tedmori was a cast member on "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" for nearly a dozen episodes. She expressed surprise at receiving any payment at all after such a long period but found the minuscule amounts notable.
