Alison Moore, CEO of the professional network Chief, highlighted the critical importance of inclusivity and transparency in fostering professional growth for women. Moore, who assumed leadership in February 2025, stated that the network's commitment is to reflect the current landscape of senior women leaders. She emphasized that diversity in experience, identities, and perspectives is not merely a desirable trait but a fundamental business imperative.
"This is not an option, this is a must-have, as much as it is of metrics and goals," Moore said, underscoring that a diverse membership makes organizations "smarter in this conversation, more agile in our thinking, which drives better business outcomes."
Moore, a founding member of Chief who departed in 2022 before returning as CEO, noted that the organization has worked to rectify earlier communication gaps with applicants. She pointed to the increased diversity within the membership today as a reflection of these efforts. The community, she explained, is designed to "hold space for their experiences, identities, ambitions, all of it, and will continue to."
Her tenure has also involved exploring the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on professional development and examining the concept of a career 'lattice' rather than a traditional ladder. Moore's focus is on ensuring that Chief continues to evolve as a supportive and representative community for senior women leaders.
