Cher Lloyd announced on Monday that she has split from her husband of 13 years, Craig Monk. The singer, 32, shared a photo of her ring-free hand with her 2.6 million Instagram followers, responding to a fan's question about her wedding ring by stating, "It’s in the bin."
A source close to Monk has urged Lloyd to "stop airing her dirty laundry in public" and to have "an adult conversation with her husband" instead of disclosing details of their marriage online. This source told the Daily Mail that Monk finds Lloyd's comments "disrespectful" and suggested her actions seem to be "for attention."
Lloyd and Monk married in November 2013 and share two daughters: Delilah-Rae, born in May 2018, and Eliza Violet, born in September 2023. The source close to Monk stated that he is "getting on with life and prioritising his two girls" and that they are "the only ones who matter in all of this."
Following her announcement, Lloyd alluded to moving "onto greater things" and appeared to engage with posts on social media that referenced intuition, crying, and lost love. She also liked a video about the loss of "old-school love" and a post about having conversations with birds and missing her father in heaven.
This news of a marital split comes three months after Lloyd announced the death of her father. In an emotional statement on social media, she wrote, "Life will never be the same again. I've never felt pain like this. My Dad, I love you. Goodnight. 10.03.73 - 11.04.26."
Lloyd married Monk less than a year after they met, following her rise to fame on The X Factor. In a 2018 appearance on Loose Women, she described their relationship as "like a fairy tale."
