Charred Body Discovered in Vacant Queens Lot

Authorities are investigating the discovery of a charred body in a vacant lot in the Briarwood neighborhood of Queens, New York. Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, finding the unidentified man at the lot located at 139th Street and Hillside Avenue.
Sources indicated that the individual had been living in a tent at the site, which appeared to be a dormant construction area, and was believed to be homeless. The body was described as "charred," and investigators suspect it had been at the location for some time. Emergency medical services pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The cause of death and the circumstances leading to the body being burned remain undetermined. The city’s medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. As of Friday, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
