Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested Di-Quan Schafar Hunt, 32, in connection with an unprovoked sidewalk assault on July 30, after a video of the incident was posted to social media. Records indicate Hunt has been arrested at least nine times since 2023.

Officers identified Hunt as the suspect after responding to an attempt-to-locate call and being shown a social media account containing videos that detectives were already investigating. One video showed the assault that occurred in the 400 block of East Boulevard, where police say the suspect punched a woman on the sidewalk before fleeing. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Social media videos reviewed by Fox News Digital appeared to show a woman being chased, taking refuge behind a vehicle, and then being confronted by the person filming. In one clip, the camera jolts, followed by the sound of an apparent punch, and the woman is then seen on the ground while the person filming taunts her and appears to strike her again. A comment from the social media account read, "Ahhhh feels GOOD!!!"

It remains unclear if these specific clips were the ones directly linked to the July 30 assault, if the women in the footage have been identified, or if other videos are being investigated as potential crimes.

Hunt was taken to a local medical facility for treatment. Upon release, he is to be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Mecklenburg County arrest records show Hunt has been arrested multiple times between October 2023 and December 2025. Charges include assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats, second-degree trespass, carrying a concealed weapon, simple assault, assault on a female, violations of a domestic-violence protective order, breaking or entering, and injury to personal property.

Records also indicate Hunt is a felon with at least six additional misdemeanor convictions. Some booking entries do not describe the underlying allegations or identify alleged victims, and the outcomes of these cases are not stated in the available records. Charges do not equate to convictions.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department stated its investigation is active and is asking for anyone with information regarding incidents connected to the social media account or its videos to contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
