Charlotte Crosby Details Difficult Parenting Day Amid Daughter's Illness
The reality star shared an update on her one-year-old daughter Pixi's struggle with hand, foot, and mouth disease.
Reality television personality Charlotte Crosby described experiencing "the hardest day of parenting of her life" as her one-year-old daughter, Pixi, battled hand, foot, and mouth disease, which caused her to be "screaming in pain." Crosby, known for her role in Geordie Shore, shared the health update on her Instagram Stories.
Pixi, one of Crosby's two daughters with fiancé Jake Ankers, has a mouth "riddled with ulcers" due to the illness. Crosby noted that her daughter had not eaten in two days but was managing to stay hydrated and maintain a stable temperature. She mentioned that Pixi required frequent bib changes due to the severity of her condition.
Adding to the challenge, the difficult day coincided with the fourth birthday of Crosby's elder daughter, Alba. Crosby explained that she was trying to balance caring for Pixi with celebrating Alba's birthday, which included setting up toys and making a cake. She expressed feelings of guilt for not being able to fully focus on Alba's special day, though she plans to make up for it at a party later in the week. Crosby stated that Alba remained engrossed in her new toys and likely did not notice the difficulties.
Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness typically affecting children under five. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, fatigue, mouth sores, and a rash on the hands and feet. It is highly contagious and spreads through close contact. Currently, there is no specific cure for HFMD, and the virus typically runs its course within seven to ten days. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms, such as ensuring adequate hydration and providing pain relief if necessary.
Crosby has previously spoken about her desire to have a third child following a silent miscarriage. She detailed the experience of discovering her pregnancy and the subsequent loss during an appearance on the morning television show 'This Morning.' Despite the heartbreak, Crosby and Ankers remain hopeful about expanding their family and have discussed plans for another pregnancy and a wedding.
