Charlie Kirk's widow eyes presidential library-style memorial

Erika Kirk is in the process of collecting memorabilia from her late husband Charlie Kirk's life and work, with the potential for it to be housed in a presidential library-style museum. She revealed this while giving Fox News a tour of keepsakes at Turning Point USA's Arizona headquarters.

Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10, 2025, during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University. Erika Kirk stated that a presidential library-style memorial is "on our list, and it's something that we have in the works."

She has accumulated numerous items, including Charlie's handwritten letters, Bibles gifted by Turning Point USA supporters, and other personal artifacts. Kirk also noted that her husband left behind hundreds of journals detailing his vision for Turning Point USA, an organization she believes will endure for multiple generations.

"I want to make sure that it's something where our students that are currently in chapters, one day, their children will be chapter leaders or chapter members," Erika Kirk said.

Erika Kirk has been more public in the wake of the one-year anniversary of her husband's death. Charlie Kirk, 31, was killed by sniper fire from a nearby rooftop. The alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, 23, has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and other charges.

Recalling the aftermath of the assassination, Erika Kirk described arriving in Utah and being advised by a police officer not to view her husband's body. She recounted her response: "With all due respect, I want to see what they did to my husband. I didn't get a kiss goodbye this morning. I just want to kiss my husband."

She also addressed public scrutiny over her reactions following Charlie's death, including wearing a sequined suit to Turning Point USA's AmericaFest convention. Kirk explained that the suit was the "only thing that fit" at the time.

Following Charlie Kirk's assassination, Erika Kirk was appointed CEO of Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organization he founded in 2012. She currently works from a couch in his former office, rather than having her own.

Earlier this month, the Kirk family sent a wrongful death notice to Utah officials, alleging that Utah Valley University made negligent decisions that contributed to Charlie Kirk's death. The notice claims the university failed to conduct a sufficient risk assessment, including scouting rooftops near the event space, and lacked a proper security plan or briefings.

The family's notice names the State of Utah, UVU, its police department, campus police chief Jeffrey Long, former UVU president Astrid Tuminez, and other state actors. Utah Valley University, through head of communications Sharon Turner, stated they are aware of the claim and address legal matters consistently with their processes, with their focus remaining on supporting the campus community.

An external review commissioned by UVU indicated that Turning Point USA insisted Charlie Kirk speak outdoors, despite concerns from campus officials. The report also highlighted the university's failure to conduct a formal security assessment and properly evaluate risks, such as a potential rooftop shooter. Critical decision-making was deferred to Turning Point USA, according to the report. Charlie Kirk's alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, is awaiting trial and could face the death penalty if convicted.
