Charissa Thompson, a television personality and close friend of the couple, shared that her bejeweled gown for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding caused her arms to bleed.
Thompson, who attended the wedding on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, described the incident on her "Calm Down" podcast with co-host Erin Andrews, who was also a guest. She explained that the individual jewels on her Valdrin Sahiti dress were attached by prongs, which snagged and "slicing [her skin] open" as she danced.
"The prongs were holding in all of the individual jewels," Thompson recalled. "And the dress was super heavy and I loved the way it looked and everything. However, halfway through the night, I’m looking down and my forearms are bleeding. Bleeding."
The sharp elements of the dress also damaged the tuxedo of her boyfriend, Steve Cundari. "Each prong would grab a little bit of his tuxedo," Thompson said, comparing the damage to a run in pantyhose. She added that she owes her beau a new tuxedo.
Thompson referred to these wardrobe malfunctions as "occupational hazards of getting on the dance floor in a dress that was not meant to get down like that [in]."
Thompson and Andrews, who are both friends of Swift and Kelce, were mindful of their attire for the ceremony. Andrews wore a black Gucci halter gown. Despite Thompson's painful experience, both guests described the wedding as "magical."
"Watching them get married, I’m like, when you find your person, everything else in the world is right," Thompson said. "That night and that weekend really was a reminder that you can have everything in the world. And if you don’t have the person to share it with, then it’s not worth anything. So congratulations to both of you. Thank you for including us in your special weekend. We love you both so much."
