Chargers Wide Receiver Ladd McConkey's Availability for Raiders Game Uncertain
McConkey missed his second consecutive practice due to a rib injury sustained last Sunday against the Cardinals.

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey's participation in the upcoming Week 2 game against the Las Vegas Raiders remains uncertain as he missed practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday. McConkey was observed working with a trainer on the sidelines, a day after being absent from the team's practice session. The injury, a rib issue, occurred during the third quarter of Sunday's 26-14 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
On Monday, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh described McConkey's condition as "day-to-day." ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the team is awaiting further evaluation to determine his eligibility for the upcoming game.
Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel acknowledged the challenge of McConkey's absence from practice. "It will be an important week for the entire group whether Ladd plays or not," McDaniel stated. He added that the team prepares for various scenarios and aims to provide other players in the receiver room with opportunities. "I need to give guys more opportunities in that room, and guys need to seize the opportunities that are very capable players that I am really excited about."
In response to potential receiver shortages, the Chargers recently signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad after he worked out with the team earlier this week. Valdes-Scantling could be one of the players to see increased action if McConkey is unable to play.
