Chargers Remain NFL's Sole Winless Team After Bye Week

Another week, another setback for the Los Angeles Chargers. During their Week 7 bye, the Chargers watched as the Miami Dolphins secured their first win of the season, a 28-25 victory against the New York Jets. This result officially leaves the Chargers as the only winless team in the 2026 NFL season.

The Chargers' season began with losses in games where they were favored, including contests against the Cardinals and Raiders. Their subsequent schedule has been a challenging stretch, featuring matchups against the Bills, Seahawks, Broncos, and Chiefs. The team still faces a difficult road ahead with upcoming games against the Rams, Texans, and Ravens.

When the season began, the Chargers' offense was anticipated to be among the league's best, particularly after hiring Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator. However, the unit has struggled. In McDaniel's West Coast offense, which relies on quick passes and decisive quarterback play, Justin Herbert has recorded the league's worst quarterback rating at 30.1. He has also thrown more interceptions (8) than touchdown passes (5).

The team's running game has performed at an average level, averaging 119 yards per game. Defensively, the Chargers are below average, allowing approximately 330 yards and 25.2 points per game.

With an upcoming game against the Rams, another loss could prompt the Chargers to consider significant roster changes as the NFL trade deadline on November 10 approaches.
