Chargers Receiver Ladd McConkey Returns to Practice, Questionable for Week 2
McConkey, who suffered a rib injury in the season opener, participated in Friday's practice but remains uncertain for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey practiced on Friday for the first time this week, though he is listed as questionable for the team's Week 2 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. McConkey sustained a rib injury during the Chargers' season-opening loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Initially considered day-to-day, McConkey missed two consecutive practices before returning to the field on Friday. His presence at practice is a positive sign for the Chargers, who are looking to rebound after a disappointing start to the season.
Before leaving the game in the third quarter of the Week 1 loss, McConkey recorded five receptions for 82 yards and one touchdown. Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel heavily featured the receiver in the season opener, and he is expected to remain a key part of the Chargers' offensive strategy.
McConkey is entering his third year in the NFL. In 2025, he recorded 789 receiving yards and six touchdowns, a step down from his rookie season performance in 2024, where he accumulated 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns. The Chargers hope for a return to his 2024 form as they aim to improve their offensive output. In Week 1, the offense managed only 14 points against the Cardinals' defense.
"You have a lot of visions over coming to a new team and working on something for months, and the vision never looked like that," McDaniel said, referring to the team's Week 1 performance.
The Chargers are seeking to avoid an 0-2 start to the season, and McConkey's potential return to full capacity would be a significant boost as they face their AFC West rivals. The divisional game is scheduled to be played in Los Angeles.
