Los Angeles Chargers lineman Ben Cleveland was arrested for speeding in Oconee County, Georgia, on July 16, according to police records. The 27-year-old was booked into jail at 10 a.m. and released before noon the same day. He was also charged with violating the conditions of his limited driving permit and paid a $1,224 bond.

Cleveland was cited for failing to maintain his lane and allegedly told officers he had consumed "three or four beers" prior to the incident. This arrest follows a DUI charge approximately 18 months prior, for which he allegedly registered a blood alcohol content of .178. He was suspended by the NFL for three games in December 2025 after pleading guilty to that DUI charge the previous month. Cleveland was subsequently released by the Baltimore Ravens on January 1 of this year.

Cleveland joined the Chargers in the offseason on a one-year, $1.215 million contract. He spent his first five professional seasons with the Ravens, playing in 64 games and making seven starts after being selected by Baltimore in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Chargers have not yet issued a public statement regarding Cleveland's recent arrest. Cleveland's personal life has also seen significant changes, as he filed for divorce in June 2025.
