Chappell Roan Debuts DJ Set and New Look at West Hollywood Event
The artist, known for "Pink Pony Club," performed her first DJ set and showcased a dramatic hairstyle change.
Singer Chappell Roan, acclaimed for her hit "Pink Pony Club," has recently embarked on a new venture as a DJ, making her debut at MISTR's 2nd Annual National PrEP Day event in West Hollywood.
Roan, 28, also presented a striking new aesthetic at the event, swapping her signature fiery red curls for a sleek, straight hairstyle with blunt bangs. She complemented this change with a form-fitting latex outfit designed by Christian Cowan.
"So sweet to be back in the bar that inspired Pink Pony Club," Roan shared on Instagram, referencing the West Hollywood venue, The Abbey, where the event was held.
The artist's appearance garnered significant attention, with celebrities like Paris Hilton and Olivia Rodrigo expressing admiration in the comments section of her post. "That's hot," Hilton commented, while Rodrigo exclaimed, "Wow, my jaw dropped."
Rumors are circulating on social media about a potential collaboration between Roan and Olivia Rodrigo on a remix of Rodrigo's song "Expectations," though this has not been officially confirmed.
Roan has not released new music in 2026, with her last single, "The Subway," having been released in late July 2025. Prior to that, her song "The Giver" reached number five on the Hot 100 chart.
Speaking with Vogue last year, Roan indicated that a follow-up to her debut album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," is not imminent. She noted that it took five years to create her first album and anticipates a similar timeline for the next, emphasizing that she is not a writer who can quickly produce material. "Even if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, every single day, that does not mean that you would get an album any faster," she stated.
Despite the pause in new music releases, Roan has remained active with festival performances. She was a headliner at Olivia Rodrigo's all-female festival, Daisy Chain Fields, which supported Planned Parenthood. Roan is also scheduled to host her own charity concerts, the Super Graphic Spectacular, over two nights in Los Angeles. These events will feature artists such as Lola Young, Tinashe, and Caroline Polachek, with all proceeds benefiting Roan's Midwest Princess Project, an LGBTQ+ charity focused on supporting trans youth.
