Fourteen fans were hospitalized following a Chainsmokers concert held at Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose on Friday, September 4th. The San Jose Fire Department reported responding to the event around 8:22 p.m. after receiving calls for multiple patients needing medical attention. The department mobilized a significant emergency response, including 14 ambulances, to transport the affected individuals to local hospitals. Police indicated that alcohol or drug use was a factor for some of the concert-goers requiring hospitalization. The current condition of those transported remains unknown. The EDM duo, comprised of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, has not yet publicly commented on the incident. They did, however, share concert footage on Instagram on Sunday, without mentioning the San Jose event. This hospitalization incident is the second in recent weeks associated with a Chainsmokers performance. Last month, at the Splash House “After Hours” event at the Palm Springs Air Museum, seven people were taken to the emergency room. That incident reportedly involved a fight and the throwing of bottles into the crowd, resulting in injuries, some from broken glass. Separately, country music artist Garth Brooks's recent secret show in Denver also saw over 25 attendees requiring medical attention due to extreme heat conditions.
