The brothers of late actor Chadwick Boseman have filed a legal petition against his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, alleging mismanagement of his multimillion-dollar estate and seeking her removal as its administrator. Derrick and Kevin Boseman claim Ledward has failed to distribute funds as ordered by the court and is not to be trusted with the estate's ongoing administration.
According to court documents, Boseman, who died in 2020 at age 43, had assets totaling $3.8 million. He passed away without a will, leading a court to decree that his widow would receive 50% of the estate, with each of his parents receiving 25%. The petition, filed on behalf of Boseman's parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, asserts that Ledward has not yet distributed the estate and continues to exert sole control over its assets. The brothers also allege a lack of transparency regarding Boseman's affairs and accuse Ledward of keeping his parents uninformed about the operations of a company established to manage his image and rights.
The petition further states that Ledward's alleged misconduct is causing financial harm and emotional distress to Boseman's elderly parents, depriving them of critical support. The brothers expressed a desire for transparency, accountability, and closure in a statement, emphasizing their commitment to honoring their brother's legacy with dignity and integrity.
Boseman, widely recognized for his portrayal of T'Challa in the Marvel blockbuster "Black Panther," was diagnosed with colon cancer four years before his death. He and Ledward, an R&B artist, married six days prior to his passing. Her legal team has been contacted for comment.
