Charles Lowe, father of actor Chad Lowe and Rob Lowe, shared a touching tribute to his granddaughter Fiona following her death at the age of 13. Charles posted a photograph of Fiona smiling while swimming in a pool, accompanying it with the caption, "Rest in peace sweet Fiona."

Fiona's family announced her passing on Tuesday, directing those struggling with mental health to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said in a statement. "She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."

The family added, "Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time." The statement concluded with a reminder to reach out for help if needed. "If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."

Fiona was the daughter of Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter. They are also parents to daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. Chad Lowe also has a connection to actress Hilary Swank, whom he was married to from 1997 to 2007.

Friends of Lowe have offered their condolences. Actor Cary Elwes, who starred with the Lowe brothers in the 1984 film "Oxford Blues," wrote on Instagram, "Our hearts are broken for you all. Thinking of you and praying for you. Always." Actress Marlee Matlin, a longtime friend of Lowe's, shared, "My heart is broken into pieces. Fly high, Fiona Lowe. Love you Chad and Kim."

Authorities were called to the Lowe residence early Tuesday morning, according to law enforcement sources. Parents at Fiona's school reportedly received an email from the principal on Tuesday informing them of a student's death and offering counseling services for students and staff.

Chad Lowe's Instagram account features many photos of his daughters. In November, he posted a birthday tribute to Fiona, writing, "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!" He also shared a photo in February showing his three daughters surveying the ruins of their childhood home in Los Angeles after the Palisades wildfire.

Lowe, known for his roles in "ER," "24," and "Melrose Place," spoke about being a father to daughters on the "Still Here Hollywood" podcast in August 2024. "Having daughters is such an incredible privilege," he said. "It takes what I've known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that's there, and how it's a misogynistic world in a lot of ways... And it's put it in my heart, because I have three daughters. And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective."

He also shared his experience of attending a Taylor Swift concert with his daughters in 2023, calling himself a "certified Swiftie Dad."
