Chad Lowe's Father Shares Heartbreaking Tribute to Granddaughter Fiona

Charles "Chuck" Lowe, father of actor Chad Lowe, has shared a heartfelt tribute to his granddaughter Fiona, who passed away at the age of 13. The announcement of Fiona's death came just one day prior to her grandfather's post.

Chuck Lowe took to Instagram to share a photo of Fiona smiling while swimming in a pool, accompanied by the caption, "Rest in peace, sweet Fiona." The image captured a joyful moment of the young girl.

Fiona's father, Chad Lowe, and his family confirmed her passing in a statement released to Page Six on Tuesday. The statement described Fiona as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance." It further stated, "She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."

The family also included a message for those struggling with mental health, urging them to reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.

Parents at Fiona's school were informed of the student's death via an email from the principal on Tuesday morning. The email, which did not identify the student by name, extended condolences to the family, friends, and teachers, and noted that counselors were available to provide support to students and staff.

Chad Lowe, 58, shared Fiona with his wife of 16 years, Kim Painter. They are also parents to daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. The family made their last known public appearance together at the premiere of Marvel's "Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur" on February 4, 2023, in Burbank, California. At the time, photos showed Fiona with her sisters and parents on the red carpet.

During a December 2025 appearance on the "Still Here Hollywood" podcast, Chad Lowe described being a "girl dad" as a privilege. He reflected on how having daughters deepened his understanding of women's experiences and the challenges they face in a world he described as "misogynistic in many ways." He stated that his daughters gave him a heart-centered perspective on these issues, allowing him to see the world truly from their viewpoint.
