Mabel Lowe, 17, honors her younger sister Fiona, 13, who died by suicide, with a poignant Instagram post.
Mabel Lowe, 17, has shared a moving tribute to her younger sister, Fiona, who died by suicide at the age of 13. The elder sister posted a carousel of cherished throwback photos on Instagram, capturing moments of their shared childhood.
"I love you so much Fiona," Mabel captioned the post. "I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much."
The slideshow included images of the sisters at the beach, celebrating a birthday, cuddling with a pet, riding in a wagon, and sharing moments of affection, such as Fiona in her crib receiving a hug from Mabel. The photos also depicted them enjoying a picnic and Fiona in a dance studio.
Mabel also used her Instagram Stories to share video tributes from Fiona's former dance teacher and the youth club she attended. The dance teacher, Kendra Andrews, recalled Fiona's bright smile and enthusiasm, even in the wake of the family losing their home in the Los Angeles wildfires. Andrews described Fiona's dedication and passion for dance, expressing the profound grief felt by the studio community.
"Our hearts are shattered. We will never be the same without you here. I will miss you and love you forever," Andrews wrote in her tribute.
Widget Works, a Southern California youth group and camp Fiona attended, also shared a tribute, remembering her for her love, creativity, and “sweet sassiness.” The organization recalled beach days and outdoor adventures with Fiona, promising to keep her memory alive.
The family confirmed Fiona's death in a statement, describing her as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance." They added, "She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."
They also shared resources for mental health support, urging anyone struggling to reach out to the 988 Suicide + Crisis Lifeline.
Last year, actor Chad Lowe had celebrated Fiona's 13th birthday on social media, writing, "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
Nine months prior, Lowe had posted about his daughters returning to survey the damage to their home after it was evacuated due to the Los Angeles wildfires in January 2025. He expressed admiration for his daughters' resilience during that devastating experience.
