The family of actor Chad Lowe confirmed the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, and urged anyone struggling with mental health issues to seek help.
Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe, has died, her family announced Tuesday. The family confirmed the news, sharing a statement that expressed their profound grief and directed individuals facing mental health challenges to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said in their statement. "She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."
Lowe, 58, who is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, shared Fiona with his wife, producer Kim Painter, 52. The couple also have two other daughters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Fiona died at home on Tuesday. Parents at Fiona's school reportedly received an email from the principal on Tuesday informing them of a student's death, though the student's name was not specified. The email offered condolences and stated that counselors were available for students and staff.
Lowe, known for his role in "Life Goes On," has previously spoken about his family's resilience. In early 2026, he shared on Instagram about losing their Los Angeles home to the Palisades fire the previous year, detailing the anger and despair he felt but highlighting his daughters' strength in navigating the difficult experience. He also described the profound impact of being a father to three daughters, sharing in August 2024 on the "Still Here Hollywood" podcast that it was "an incredible privilege" and had given him a deeper perspective on the world.
Lowe won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his supporting role on "Life Goes On." He has also appeared in "Melrose Place," "ER," "24," and "Pretty Little Liars."
His marriage to Painter began in 2010. Previously, he was married to actress Hilary Swank from 1997 to 2007.
