A 102-year-old man is in critical condition after sustaining severe injuries when he was allegedly pushed from a stage at The Crow's Nest pub in Cwmbran, South Wales. The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, August 1, when the man, a regular at the establishment, reportedly approached the stage to ask the band, SuperHans, to lower the music volume.

Witnesses stated that the centenarian wandered onto the stage while the rock, punk, and indie cover band was performing. He was then allegedly pushed, causing him to fall. Accounts differ on the exact nature of the fall, with some witnesses reporting he fell down three steps, breaking his hip, while others suggest he was pushed with enough force to clear the steps and land on the floor below. The injuries sustained are described as potentially life-changing or life-shortening given his age.

Gwent Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service were called to the scene at approximately 10:25 p.m. The injured man was transported to the Grange Hospital in Llanfrechfa, where he has remained in intensive care for nearly two weeks.

A 56-year-old man from Llanelli was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has since been released under investigation. Police are appealing for witnesses who were in The Crow's Nest pub between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on August 1 to come forward with information.

SuperHans, the band performing at the time, has since removed its Facebook and Instagram pages. The band's guitarist, Josh, announced he would be stepping away from the group for personal reasons, stating, "For personal reasons, I (Josh) am stepping away from being the guitarist in SuperHans. Until recently, it's been a great eight years and I've met great people and played some brilliant gigs. Thank you everyone."

The injured man was born over a century ago, during the reign of King George V, and had celebrated his 100th birthday at The Crow's Nest, according to locals. The pub has shared the police appeal for information regarding the incident.
