Celine Dion Makes Fashion Statement in Paris Amid Stiff Person Syndrome Battle
The iconic singer, 58, stepped out in a striking white feathered ensemble in Paris, continuing her comeback residency while managing her Stiff Person Syndrome.
Celine Dion, 58, was seen leaving her hotel in Paris on Friday, dressed in a fashion-forward white feathered skirt and matching blouse, ahead of a performance in the French capital. The singer is currently midway through a comeback residency in Paris, her first series of concerts since canceling the remainder of her Courage world tour in 2023 due to her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).
Dion's outfit featured a white feathered skirt from Dior's creative director Jonathan Anderson and a chic coordinating blouse. She was heading to the Plenitude Arena for her next Paris show as part of her five-week residency.
The superstar has spoken about her health journey, stating in December 2022 that her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome, a condition causing muscle stiffness and painful spasms, has become "my reason for living." At its most severe, the condition impacted her ability to walk and sing.
In 2024, Dion promised to sing again and has expressed gratitude for her fans' support during her comeback. "I had promised myself not to cry. Here we are… I'm standing on stage in this city that I love so much, thanks to your support and your love," she shared during one of her initial comeback shows. She described her path back to the stage as rocky and longer than anticipated but expressed her belief in reaching this point.
Dion's intensive rehabilitation program has included new medication, physical therapy, vocal therapy, and immunotherapy. To maintain her physical ability to perform, she engages in 90-minute Pilates sessions three times a week, supplemented by twice-weekly ballet and barre classes. Her home gym is equipped with weights, a treadmill, and a reformer machine, which she credits with increasing her flexibility.
Describing her recovery to Harper's Bazaar, Dion likened it to repeatedly falling and getting back up, expressing pride in achieving something her body was not initially built for. She prefers to describe SPS as a "progressive condition" rather than a "disease."
Dion's candid struggle with the condition was further detailed in her 2024 documentary, "I Am: Celine Dion." Despite the challenges, she has recently appeared in high spirits while interacting with fans in Paris.
The current residency includes 16 shows scheduled for autumn 2026 and an additional ten dates in May 2027.
