Celine Dion Debuts Fashionable Look in Paris Amidst Comeback Residency
The singer, 58, appeared stylish and energetic leaving her hotel in Paris, continuing her comeback performances following a battle with Stiff Person Syndrome.
Celine Dion, 58, was seen departing her hotel in Paris on Friday, exuding a fashionable presence as she headed to a performance. The singer is currently in the midst of a comeback residency in the French capital, marking her return to the stage after a hiatus due to Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).
Dion stepped out in a striking white feathered skirt and a matching blouse, an ensemble that highlighted her distinctive style. The outfit, featuring a skirt from Dior's creative director Jonathan Anderson, was showcased as she made her way to the Plenitude Arena for her next show. This residency is her first series of concerts since the remainder of her Courage world tour was canceled in 2023.
The superstar has spoken openly about her health journey, sharing that she has decided to make her battle with SPS "my reason for living." She was diagnosed with the condition, which causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms, in December 2022. At its most severe, SPS impacted her ability to walk and sing.
In a previous address to fans during a comeback show, Dion expressed her gratitude for their support. "I had promised myself not to cry," she said, visibly moved. "Here we are… I'm standing on stage in this city that I love so much, thanks to your support and your love." She described her recovery path as challenging, stating, "The journey was longer than expected, with unplanned stops along the way. But I hung in there."
Describing the condition, Dion noted, "It is a progressive condition. I don't like to say 'disease.' Disease makes you go like this." She has been undergoing an intensive rehabilitation program, including new medication, physical therapy, vocal therapy, and immunotherapy. Her regimen also incorporates 90-minute Pilates sessions three times a week, along with twice-weekly ballet and barre classes to build strength. Her home gym is equipped for her physical training, and she has reported increased flexibility.
Dion's experiences with SPS were further detailed in her 2024 documentary, "I Am: Celine Dion." Despite the challenges, recent appearances in Paris have shown her in high spirits, engaging with fans ahead of her performances. The current residency includes 16 shows scheduled for autumn 2026 and ten additional dates in May 2027.
