Celebrity Traitors Filming Disrupted by Contestant Complaints
Two stars reportedly expressed difficulties with the show's intense format during production.
Filming for the upcoming season of "Celebrity Traitors" experienced disruptions when two contestants complained about the "grueling process" of the show, according to reports. The series is set to return on October 1 with 21 celebrities competing in a game of deception.
Sources indicate that two of the stars struggled with the nature of the game early in the filming process and voiced their concerns to producers. An insider told The Sun that while producers are understanding and make efforts to address issues, the fundamental challenge is inherent to the game.
"There certainly wasn't an attempt to make the show any more challenging than last year's. But the whole point of the game is that it's a challenge," the insider stated. "At any point contestants are obviously free to leave the process and producers would not want anyone to be there under sense of obligation. All they care about is the safety and welfare of everyone."
A spokesperson for "The Celebrity Traitors" confirmed that the show is a "unique and immersive game" and that while it can be intense, feedback from players is welcomed. "We want everyone to have the best experience possible so the door will always remain open for players to feed back," the spokesperson said.
The new season will feature a cast including Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, among others. Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney are also slated to appear.
A recently released trailer previews the celebrities arriving at an iconic castle for the competition. Host Claudia Winkleman announces, "The game is ON!" The trailer also hints at challenging tasks, including scenes with an exploding pirate ship, as contestants aim to build a £100,000 cash prize for a chosen charity. The first episode is an extended opening, with a bonus special airing on launch night. The regular series episodes will air on Thursday and Friday evenings at 8pm.
