A celebrity, whose identity is being withheld, is taking legal action against ITN and The Guardian to prevent the publication of allegations of misconduct, including an accusation of a sexual offense.

The case was heard in the High Court, where the individual's legal team argued that publication could lead to his suicide. Sara Mansoori KC, representing the claimant, stated that the individual is "a well-known individual who suffers from very serious mental health problems."

Journalists from both ITN and The Guardian have reportedly been investigating the celebrity's conduct.

Mr Justice Nicklin, presiding over the hearing, remarked that proceedings should be conducted with as much openness as possible, acknowledging that the case "is going to be controversial either way it is decided."
