Celebrity Plastic Surgeon Assassinated in Spanish Clinic

Millionaire celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Alexander Aslani was assassinated at his clinic in Marbella, Spain, earlier this month, an incident that occurred just days after he reportedly told friends he feared for his life. The brazen attack saw a masked assailant enter Aslani's clinic and shoot him multiple times, with the final shot fired at close range to his face.

Dr. Aslani, 57, was a prominent figure in the plastic surgery world, known for pioneering procedures like the "super-charged Brazilian butt lift." His clientele included reality television stars and members of the Qatari royal family. He resided in a villa in the Mijas Costa foothills and enjoyed spending time on his 40ft yacht docked in Puerto Banus.

According to police sources, the shooting occurred in Dr. Aslani's office in front of patients, staff, and his wife, Jeannine, who owns a beauty salon next door. Neighbors reported hearing screams and shouting before emergency services arrived.

Sources indicate that Dr. Aslani had previously alerted police to death threats from a disgruntled client. A fellow delegate at a plastic surgery conference in Brussels, where Aslani had presented just three days before his murder, stated that the surgeon privately expressed concerns about his security. "Publicly he was happy and relaxed but privately he seemed concerned," the colleague told the Daily Mail.

Dr. Fahad Mirza, a Pakistan-based plastic surgeon who spoke with Aslani hours before his death, expressed shock. "When we spoke, he didn't seem to have any concerns," Mirza said, adding that such worries are not always noticeable on a phone call. He also noted that sometimes patients can develop body dysmorphia, becoming obsessed with perceived flaws despite successful procedures.

The alleged hitman, an 18-year-old Swedish national, was arrested at an Airbnb in Benalmadena after being tracked via CCTV and license plate recognition technology. He has denied involvement and refused to identify his employers or accomplices. Police are still searching for the driver of the getaway vehicle, an Audi.

Detectives are investigating multiple potential motives. Reports suggest a wealthy Arab client demanded the return of a £17,000 deposit for a Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, which Dr. Aslani reportedly refused to refund, citing standard preliminary charges. This client and her husband had allegedly been threatening Aslani for months.

Another line of inquiry involves the family of a Colombian woman who reportedly died following surgery performed by Aslani. The assassin's apparent familiarity with the clinic's layout has also raised questions.

Dr. Aslani's career was not without controversy. In 2012, the UK's General Medical Council disciplined him for deficiencies in patient consent and post-operative care, restricting his practice in the UK. He relinquished his British medical license in 2016. In 2020, an influencer claimed a procedure by Aslani was botched; Aslani sued for libel and won £40,000 in damages. In 2018, a separate medical malpractice lawsuit resulted in a nearly £20,000 payment from Aslani, the hospital, and insurers.

Authorities in the Costa del Sol region are increasingly concerned about organized crime and the availability of contract killers. Fernando Bentabol of the anti-drugs department in Malaga described the area as having a "serious problem with paid assassins," noting that organizations are hiring individuals, often from Northern Europe, to carry out assassinations and then leave the country, facilitated through the dark web.
