CeeDee Lamb Confident Cowboys Can Still Win NFC East Despite Losing Streak
Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb expressed optimism about the Dallas Cowboys' chances in the NFC East, urging a 'why not us' mentality despite the team's current 2-4 record.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is maintaining a positive outlook on the team's potential to win the NFC East, even as the Cowboys grapple with a two-game losing streak and a 2-4 record.
"Anybody can win this division, so why not us?" Lamb told reporters on Friday. He emphasized that the division is still within reach for Dallas.
Lamb suggested that the Cowboys' current standing is somewhat fortunate, given that other teams in the division have also struggled. The New York Giants, for example, currently lead the division with a 3-2-1 record. "Very fortunate that everybody else is playing pretty bad. But overall, just everything is still in front of us," Lamb added. "We still have our opportunity to do what we want to do, and that’s to get in the tournament, and it starts on Monday."
He stressed the immediate importance of returning to winning ways. "So shaking that back and getting back into the win column I feel like is the most important thing, and that’s been the point of emphasis this week."
Despite entering the season with high expectations, the Cowboys have faced significant defensive challenges, ranking among the worst in the NFL in several key metrics. They are 25th in points allowed per game (26.5), 30th in total yards allowed (382.5), and last in run defense (149.8 yards per game).
Adding to the team's struggles, the offense has also faltered in recent weeks, scoring a combined 29 points in their last two losses. Quarterback Dak Prescott acknowledged the team's determination and urgency heading into their crucial Week 7 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. "We can only say we’ve got a lot of games in front of us for so long. Might be already past us, right? We’ve got to go win," Prescott stated. "You’ve got to go win. You want to give yourself a chance to be a winning team, to be a playoff team. You got to win as many games as you can, and when you drop two games — in particular games that we didn’t expect to drop — it makes it that much harder. So urgent, urgent to get it done now."
