The cause of death for prominent plastic surgeon Sarwa Ama Aldoori, 71, has been identified as drowning, according to the Kern County coroner’s office. Aldoori was found deceased in a backyard swimming pool on June 30 at an upscale residence in Bakersfield.

While drowning has been established as the cause, the manner of death has been ruled “undetermined.” This classification means authorities have not yet concluded whether Aldoori’s death was accidental, intentional, or resulted from other circumstances. The Bakersfield Police Department stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Aldoori had a professional history spanning approximately 35 years in Bakersfield, initially in OB-GYN surgery before co-founding Bella Health and Beauty, a plastic surgery center. Her practice specialized in women’s health and wellness, as well as cosmetic procedures.

This development follows a significant disciplinary action by the Medical Board of California. In March 2024, Aldoori surrendered her medical license after being accused of failing to adhere to the terms of a seven-year probation. This probation stemmed from allegations filed in 2021 concerning a cosmetic procedure performed in 2016. State records indicate she was accused of lacking adequate training for a liposuction and tummy tuck procedure that resulted in the patient's death from a fat embolism.

Despite the scrutiny and the surrender of her license, her practice continued to describe her as a physician focused on women's health and cosmetic procedures. The exact details of how Aldoori came to be in the swimming pool remain unclear, leaving the circumstances of her death a mystery.
