Cause of Death Revealed for South Carolina Personal Trainer Found in Woods
Elena Moore's death was attributed to cardiac complications, officials announced four months after her disappearance.
The cause of death for personal trainer Elena Moore, who disappeared after leaving a Planet Fitness in Lexington, South Carolina, has been determined to be complications from underlying cardiac issues, officials announced Friday.
Moore, 39, was last seen checking into the gym in June. Her body was discovered in a wooded area a week later. Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher stated at a press conference that Moore died due to complications of cardiac dysrhythmias and premature ventricular contractions. Fisher also noted that Moore had a history of heart and mental health problems.
According to Fisher, Moore had been involuntarily committed into a facility on June 5 following a mental health crisis. She was released on June 11. Officials contacted Moore's husband, Brannon Slice, who offered to pick her up. However, health officials placed Moore in a taxi with instructions to take her home. Instead, the taxi proceeded to a CVS Pharmacy. Fisher reported that Moore informed a CVS employee that the taxi driver had been stalking her, prompting the manager to call 911.
