Catherine Zeta-Jones Explains Why She Hasn't Finished Michael Douglas' Memoir

Catherine Zeta-Jones admitted that she has not yet finished reading her husband Michael Douglas' new memoir, humorously explaining her delay during an appearance on the “Today” show.

Douglas had recently told Page Six that his wife was "in the midst" of reading his tell-all book, titled "One Helluva Ride." In response, Zeta-Jones stated, "It's true. As much as I love my husband, when I'm tired at night, I have no intention of reading about him. At all."

Zeta-Jones attributed her reading delay to a demanding filming schedule over the past year. She noted that she recently completed filming "Wednesday" Season 3 in Dublin for seven months. Immediately following that production, she traveled to London to film her new Prime Video series, "Kill Jackie."

"Then I went to Bilbao, Spain and now I’m here talking to you, Will, on the fabulous ‘Today’ show," she told the program's host.

Despite her personal reading pace, Zeta-Jones encouraged others to read the book, saying, "But everyone else should [read it]. The book is called ‘One Helluva Ride,’ and I think everyone should hold on to their cowboy hats, because I think it is."

Douglas, speaking to Page Six on Wednesday, acknowledged his wife's demanding work commitments. He also mentioned that he had cautioned her about some of the more explicit content within the memoir. The Oscar winner expressed his satisfaction with releasing the book, describing Zeta-Jones as his "soulmate" and highlighting his enjoyment of their 26-year marriage.

The couple, who briefly separated in 2013, share two children: Dylan, 26, and Carys, 23. "One Helluva Ride," which was released on Tuesday, details Douglas' past relationships, including alleged affairs with Kathleen Turner during the filming of "Romancing the Stone" and Jeanne Tripplehorn during "Basic Instinct." The memoir also touches upon his past struggles with cocaine and alcohol.

Douglas stated that while including his experiences with substance abuse was not mandatory, he chose to share it as a cautionary tale. He reflected on how prevalent cocaine use was in Hollywood during the 1970s and 80s, impacting many, including his son and others.
