Cat Deeley Embarks on New Renovation Project After Previous Home Build Stressed Marriage

Cat Deeley, the 49-year-old presenter, has revealed she is currently engaged in a significant renovation of her new home. This endeavor comes after a previous £5 million home renovation project with ex-partner Patrick Kielty reportedly placed strain on their marriage.

Deeley told Closer magazine that the current project is "a massive project" and that her brother is assisting her. She expressed a personal philosophy of embracing challenges, stating, "I always feel like if an opportunity comes up or there's something life-changing that you want to do, if you feel a little bit scared and you're approaching it with a little trepidation then you should probably do it."

The presenter did not disclose the location of the new house. Deeley and Kielty, 55, share two sons, Milo, aged ten, and James, aged eight.

In 2022, Deeley and Kielty purchased a derelict 1950s property in Hampstead, north London, for £4.9 million, intending it to be their "forever home." However, the extensive renovation, documented by Deeley on social media, coincided with Kielty's work in Ireland and Deeley's commitments presenting "This Morning" in London. Deeley previously admitted to being "shocked" by the scale of the renovation process.

Sources close to the couple had indicated to the Daily Mail that the renovation plans were adding "additional stress" to their marriage. Deeley shared updates on social media showing the 1950s property being stripped back, with plans for a grand entrance hall, removal of a living room mezzanine, and extensions to bedrooms and a terrace.

Following their split, the ambitious renovation was put on hold, deemed too significant an undertaking for one person to manage. The Hampstead property is now on the market for £5 million, following a £250,000 price reduction this summer. A source indicated that the decision to halt the work was made with "a heavy heart," expressing that it was "heartbreaking" given the time invested and the vision for their sons to grow up there. Images previously showed the property in a state of disrepair.
