Television personalities Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have put their recently purchased £5 million home in Hampstead, London, back on the market, marking a significant setback for their envisioned new life in the UK. The couple, who relocated from Los Angeles in 2020, had acquired the rundown 1950s property in 2023 with plans for an extensive renovation, described as a "hardcore passion project." However, sources close to the couple indicate that the marriage is in ruins and the renovation project has been halted, with the property never having been lived in.
Relocation and Renovation Plans
The decision to move back to the UK followed a terrifying incident in Los Angeles where Kielty and their eldest son, Milo, then four, were caught in a lockdown during a shooting scare at a shopping mall. This event prompted Deeley to state that she could not raise her family in the U.S.
Upon returning to the UK, the couple purchased the property, intending to transform it into their forever home. Deeley, 49, who began co-hosting ITV's "This Morning" in 2024, and Kielty, 55, who hosts Ireland's "The Late Late Show," had ambitious plans for the house. Their renovation proposals, submitted to Barnet Council, included extensive alterations such as a double-height open-plan living space, extended bedrooms and terraces, a nanny suite, a children's playroom, his-and-hers dressing rooms, a home bar, and an office. Plans also involved roof alterations to increase natural light and changes to the rear garden. Deeley shared some progress on the renovations via Instagram, showing a partially demolished interior.
Marriage Strain and Project Challenges
Sources suggest that the renovation project, which has been ongoing for approximately two years, has contributed to the strain on the couple's marriage. "It was with a heavy heart that Cat and Patrick decided to halt the work," a friend commented. "It's heartbreaking. They put a lot of time into it and had an amazing vision not just for what the house would look like, but that their boys would grow up there."
The property is described as being in "poor condition" and shows signs of an abandoned building site, with security fencing, rotting plywood, and scattered cables. The couple reportedly spent more on renovations than the property's current market value of £5.25 million, indicating a personal financial loss.
Separation and Speculation
Deeley and Kielty announced their separation a year ago, stating, "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected."
Despite the public statement, some acquaintances suggest underlying tensions. Speculation arose around Kielty's mother's funeral in March 2025, where Deeley was absent, with her representative stating she remained home for the children. Since their split, Deeley has been seen socialising, including an outing with movie executive Charlie Coleman, though sources have downplayed any romantic involvement.
Industry insiders also note that Deeley's role on "This Morning" has faced challenges, with low ratings compared to her predecessor, Holly Willoughby. Sources at ITV have indicated that her tenure on the program might be nearing an end, similar to the stalled progress on their Hampstead home.
