Casey Bloys Chairs Cedars-Sinai Gala Amidst Skydance Deal
The new Skydance streaming boss hosted the Cedars-Sinai Sunset Soirée on the Warner Bros. lot, honoring the creators of 'The Pitt'.
Casey Bloys, recently appointed head of Skydance’s streaming operations, chaired the Cedars-Sinai Sunset Soirée gala on the Warner Bros. lot on Sunday night. He co-chaired the event with WME co-chairman Richard Weitz. The gathering honored the creators of the HBO medical drama "The Pitt": Noah Wyle, John Wells, and R. Scott Gemmill, who received the Hollywood Leadership Award. The award was presented by "The Pitt" star Katherine LaNasa.
The event, which was moved indoors to soundstages due to rainy Los Angeles weather, took place on the lot where Bloys will now be based for the next five years. Insiders noted the significance of the timing, coming just a week after Bloys signed a new multiyear contract with Skydance.
Weitz acknowledged the weather during his remarks, joking to Bloys, "Casey, after the week you’ve had, a little more stormy weather probably feels familiar!" He also thanked the Cedars-Sinai team for swiftly implementing a Plan B to accommodate the shift from an outdoor to an indoor venue.
"We’re gathered on the historic Warner Bros. lot to support what we believe is the world’s best hospital and celebrate people making a difference on screen and in our community," Weitz stated.
The gala also recognized Jaime and Andrew Schwartzberg with the Philanthropic Leadership Award. The evening featured a performance by Andy Grammer. The catering was provided by Steak 48.
The Cedars-Sinai gala reportedly raised over $3.1 million, making it the highest-grossing Cedars gala to date. The funds raised will support the Board of Governors’ Innovation to Impact campaign.
