Casey Affleck has confirmed the death of his father, Timothy Affleck, this year. The news follows the passing of his mother, Christine Affleck, in June.

Speaking at the Venice Film Festival on Tuesday while promoting his film "Company," the 51-year-old Oscar winner stated, "It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me." He added, "I really wanted to show this movie to them, and I didn’t get to. I think they would have liked it."

Christine Affleck died on June 2 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Her obituary noted that she had been told by doctors she had six months to live in December and her final wish was to attend her grandson's high school graduation, which she did on May 31, dying in her sleep two days later. Timothy Affleck's date of death is not specified.

Timothy Affleck had previously defended his sons against allegations in February 2018, telling Grazia magazine that Hollywood had taken a toll on them and was a major factor in Ben Affleck's drinking. He shared his own experience with alcoholism and his recovery, expressing that Ben was serious about getting sober and wanted a balanced life.

Timothy and Christine Affleck divorced in 1984, when Ben was 12. Following the divorce, Ben and Casey were raised by Christine in Massachusetts, while Timothy relocated to California.

Christine Affleck, born in New York City in December 1942, graduated from Harvard University and taught public school for 35 years before retiring in 2008. Her obituary described her as having a strong social consciousness, advocating for civil rights, teaching literacy classes in Mississippi during Freedom Summer, and marching against the Vietnam War.

The Affleck brothers are survived by five grandchildren: Indiana, Violet, Atticus, Fin, and Sam.
