Carville Mocks Senate Campaign Staffers Complaining About Treatment

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville has publicly criticized former staffers who complained to The New York Times about their treatment while working for Alaska Senate candidate Mary Peltola. The Times article detailed alleged chaos, including angry outbursts and firings, within Peltola's congressional office and Senate campaign.

Carville, in a video shared on the Politicon YouTube channel, responded to the New York Times report, characterizing the former aides as "upset little staffers" who were not being treated with excessive courtesy by Peltola under pressure. He suggested that during political campaigns, demanding work environments are standard and that staffers should not expect to be treated with deference if they are not performing crucial roles.

"When I ran campaigns, you didn't have a f---in’ name until you did something," Carville stated. "Go do something else. Go be a social worker. They'll give you a name right away!"

He further elaborated that while overtly dehumanizing or excessively rude behavior is unacceptable, simple demands such as fetching coffee or being addressed as "you" are part of the demanding nature of campaign work. Carville linked such complaints to the Democratic Party's electoral struggles, quipping, "Well s--t, that’s why we lose."

Carville also suggested that female political candidates face a heightened level of scrutiny when accused of mistreating staff, humorously remarking, "Why don't we just call every female candidate for everything a goddamn b-----? You'd save time."

He dismissed the idea that all campaign workers' opinions must be equally respected, labeling it "nonsense." He advised staffers who find the environment too difficult to pursue other careers, saying, "If you're that f---in’ delicate, ... go do something else with your life. You're too weak. You're too soft."

Addressing Democratic staffers directly, Carville urged them to focus on their work, stating, "Just put your head down, work your a-- off and save the country and f--- your feelings."

Doug Schoen, a Democratic strategist and pollster, told Fox News Digital that while working in politics requires a "thick skin," the allegations against Peltola were concerning. He acknowledged the intensity of campaigns but suggested that the specific allegations, while serious, might not impact the election's outcome, which he framed as a referendum on former President Donald Trump.

Former RNC national spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko agreed with Carville regarding the demanding nature of campaign life, noting that the intensity increases as elections approach. She stated that campaigns are often chaotic and require individuals who can compartmentalize their emotions and possess the stamina for a ruthless cycle, concluding that campaign life is "not for the faint of heart."

Fox News Digital reached out to Peltola and The New York Times for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
