Carrot Top Recovering After Apparent Suicide Attempt, Hospitalization

Comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, is recovering at home following a week-long hospitalization after being found unresponsive in his Las Vegas backyard. The 61-year-old entertainer is said to be reconnecting with family members and feeling much better as he rests at his home. Thompson is reportedly grateful for the support from his fans.

Thompson was hospitalized more than a week ago after an apparent prescription pill overdose. He had reportedly texted his manager the word "done" before ceasing communication, prompting the manager to contact the police. Officers found Thompson shortly before 4:30 p.m. and he was subsequently hospitalized in critical condition. A representative later confirmed to TMZ that he was awake and breathing on his own.

The hospitalization led to the cancellation of his next three weeks of shows at the Luxor Hotel's Atrium Showroom.

The incident occurred amid a legal dispute with former friend, singer Brian Evans. In July, Radar Online reported that Evans sued Thompson, accusing him of sending an unsolicited sexually explicit video. A second accuser reportedly came forward earlier this month to back Evans' claims.

Thompson's lawyer confirmed the comedian's suicide attempt in a court filing on September 20, requesting "immediate protective relief" to prevent Evans from "exposing [Thompson] to ill repute, false allegations, and salacious materials." The attorney claimed Evans was engaged in an extortion scheme, threatening to release the footage if he was not paid $500,000. Evans has denied these accusations, stating he never threatened to post any video for a settlement and that the video in question had been deleted.

Thompson's representative, Jami Schlicher, told the Daily Mail that a federal court recently declared Evans a "vexatious litigant" and described his filings as "serial" and "spurious."
