Carrot Top Hospitalized, Las Vegas Shows Uncertain After Alleged Suicide Attempt
The comedian's Saturday performance was canceled, and his residency is now in question.
Carrot Top's Las Vegas shows at the Luxor Hotel and Casino are in an uncertain state following his hospitalization Friday evening for an alleged suicide attempt. A performance scheduled for Saturday night was officially canceled, and the comedian remains hospitalized.
Sources told TMZ that the 61-year-old comedian, whose legal name is Scott Thompson, was taken to a Las Vegas hospital Friday afternoon. Authorities were reportedly seen at his residence following the alleged incident. His representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed his hospitalization to Page Six, stating that he is "recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs." Schlicher added, "His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy." The representative did not comment on the circumstances leading to the hospitalization.
Carrot Top has been a fixture in Las Vegas for over two decades, headlining his self-titled prop comedy show at the Luxor's Atrium Showroom since November 2005. His residency has made him a long-standing presence in the city's entertainment landscape.
Beyond his Vegas show, Carrot Top has made numerous television appearances, including playing himself in a 2024 episode of "Hacks." He has also appeared in series such as "Scrubs," "Robot Chicken," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and "Reno 911!"
In 2015, the comedian partnered with PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center for the Together Against Bullying (TAG) campaign, using his platform to raise awareness and donations. He expressed personal connection to the issue, stating that he could relate to children who are bullied due to his own experiences with ridicule.
Representatives for the Luxor Hotel and Casino had not immediately responded to requests for comment as of Saturday.
