Carrot Top Hospitalized After Reported Suicide Attempt; Shows Canceled
Comedian Scott Thompson was hospitalized and his Las Vegas shows canceled following a reported suicide attempt Friday.
Police responded to comedian Carrot Top's Las Vegas home Saturday morning following a reported suicide attempt the previous day, according to reports. The comedian, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, 61, reportedly attempted to take his own life on Friday, hours before a scheduled performance at the Luxor Hotel and Casino.
Sources indicated the incident occurred in the Las Vegas area, and Thompson was transported to a nearby hospital. His Friday night show was subsequently canceled. On Saturday, multiple police vehicles were observed outside Thompson's residence. His performance scheduled for Saturday night has also been called off as he remains hospitalized.
A representative for Thompson, Jami Schlicher, stated Friday that the comedian was receiving "the care and support he needs" and that his family was grateful for concern, requesting privacy. Thompson's most recent social media post, shared Thursday, promoted his Friday show.
Fans have expressed well wishes in the comments of his posts. Thompson, known for his prop comedy, rose to prominence in the 1990s. In November 2025, he previously drew fan concern after being seen appearing disheveled at a Las Vegas grocery store.
In a 2022 interview, Thompson described himself as sober and not a drug user, though he mentioned having a small drink before shows and a glass of wine afterward. Earlier this year, Thompson was reportedly sued by singer Brian Evans, who accused him of sending an unsolicited explicit video, with a second accuser coming forward with similar claims in October.
