Carrot Top Hospitalized After Alleged Suicide Attempt, Overdose

Comedian Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was hospitalized in Las Vegas on Friday following a suspected overdose of prescription medication, according to reports.

Crews responded to Thompson's home around 4:20 p.m. after receiving a call about a 61-year-old male who was unresponsive. While a city ambulance was present, Thompson was transported to the hospital via a private ambulance. He is now reportedly awake and breathing on his own, his representative, Jami Schlicher, told Page Six.

"Scott remains hospitalized and under close medical care," Schlicher stated. "He is now awake, breathing on his own and continuing to improve, surrounded by his family and those closest to him." She added that Thompson is sharing moments of humor with his caregivers.

Several of Thompson's performances at the Luxor Hotel and Casino, where he has had a show since 2005, have been canceled due to his hospitalization. His shows typically run daily except for Sundays.

Prior to the hospitalization, Thompson was allegedly being extorted over a sex tape. Court documents obtained by Page Six indicated that musician Brian Evans threatened to leak an explicit video of Thompson unless he was paid $500,000. Evans denied these allegations, stating that the email was intended to be confidential and that he never threatened to release any video in exchange for a settlement. Evans also claimed the video in question was deleted long ago.
