Carlos Ramirez announced Sunday he is leaving NBC Sports Bay Area after four and a half years with the network, marking another significant departure from the regional sports channel in 2026.
Ramirez, known for his bilingual reporting and hosting duties for the San Francisco 49ers’ studio programming, shared his feelings about his exit in a post on X, formerly Twitter. "It’s hard to put into words what the past four and a half years meant to me," he wrote. "I had the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream, working alongside some of the most talented people in sports media, and calling the Bay Area home."
Initially a regular on the San Francisco Giants pregame and postgame shows, Ramirez's role expanded to include primary hosting for 49ers coverage. He also contributed to broadcasts featuring the Sacramento Kings and the Athletics since joining full-time in 2022. Ramirez's ability to conduct interviews with Spanish-speaking athletes was a notable aspect of his reporting.
Beyond his work at NBC Sports Bay Area, Ramirez also serves as a play-by-play announcer for the San Jose Earthquakes and Major League Soccer broadcasts on Apple TV, according to his LinkedIn profile.
While Ramirez did not disclose his next professional move, he indicated that new opportunities are on the horizon. "A new chapter begins and I can’t wait to share more about it with all of you very soon," he stated.
Ramirez's departure follows that of fellow NBC Sports Bay Area personality Laura Britt, who left the network in May after an eight-year tenure. Britt, the former lead anchor for Giants coverage, relocated to Atlanta to be nearer to her family.
Ramirez's final broadcast appearance was on the Athletics’ postgame show. With his exit, NBC Sports Bay Area's remaining full-time studio hosts include Kylen Mills for Giants coverage and Bonta Hill, who covers the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, and Giants.
