Carli Lloyd, 44, Welcomes Second Child After Infertility Journey

Soccer icon Carli Lloyd, 44, and her husband, Brian Hollins, have expanded their family with the birth of their second child, a son named Hunter Jax, who was born on September 24. The couple shared the news on Monday, expressing their gratitude for their growing family.

Lloyd, who has been open about her past fertility struggles, announced the birth on Instagram with photos of the newborn. "Our hearts have never been fuller. Welcome to the world, our sweet baby boy," she wrote. She also extended thanks to the medical team who cared for her during the pregnancy and delivery.

The family of four, including their daughter Harper Anne born in October 2024, is now adjusting to life at home. Lloyd described the current days as "a little crazy, a little sleepless, but incredibly special."

Prior to welcoming Harper, Lloyd detailed her "rollercoaster" journey to conceive, which involved multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF). She shared her experience in a Women's Health article, discussing her "secret journey involving unexplained infertility and multiple rounds of IVF treatments."

Lloyd, a two-time World Cup winner and Olympic medalist, noted that while she always desired motherhood, her focus on soccer, which consumed 34 years of her life, delayed those plans. After retiring professionally in 2021 at age 39, she and Hollins, her high school sweetheart, began their efforts to start a family.

Reflecting on her experience, Lloyd expressed a wish for greater education and resources surrounding fertility treatments. "My hope is that more and more women will speak up about this topic, because their stories helped me," she said.

Lloyd's illustrious soccer career includes winning two Women's World Cups and two Olympic medals. She ranks third on the USA's all-time goals scored list. Since retiring, she has transitioned into broadcasting, serving as an analyst for Fox Sports.
