Mexican music star Carín León has canceled a scheduled concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas hours before it was set to begin, citing "unexpected mishap during my move" and "aircraft malfunctions." The abrupt cancellation on Thursday has led to significant backlash from fans who had already arrived at the venue. León, a Grammy winner, posted a statement on Instagram, translated by Billboard, stating that safety concerns prevented him and his band from flying.

"Due to an unexpected mishap during my move, and always putting everyone's safety first, we unfortunately have to reschedule tonight's show at Sphere," León wrote. "I know all the effort, excitement, and desire that many brought to be here tonight, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your patience, for understanding and for all the affection you always make me reach. See you the soonest my people."

The artist later shared a video further explaining the situation, claiming that two separate planes intended for him and his band experienced issues, one with a brake failure and another with a steering problem. "The authorities wouldn't let us fly," he said, expressing embarrassment and reaffirming his commitment to his fans.

The Sphere confirmed the postponement in its own statement, announcing that tickets would remain valid for a rescheduled date of September 15, 2027. Refunds are available at the original point of purchase until October 10, 2026. Despite this cancellation, León is still scheduled to perform his remaining residency dates on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Fans expressed their frustration on social media and within the Sphere venue, with some posting videos of themselves cursing León and chanting insults. Comments on León's Instagram page criticized the late notice, with one user comparing him unfavorably to the Backstreet Boys' consistent performances at the venue. Others inquired about reimbursement for travel and accommodation expenses. Some fans pointed out that the singer should have arrived in Las Vegas at least a day before the concert.

León, known for his regional Mexican music, has achieved significant crossover success, with three songs charting on the Billboard Hot 100. He has won Best Música Mexicana Album at the Grammy Awards in both 2025 and 2026. In 2026, he collaborated with country singer Jelly Roll on the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song, "Lighter."
